Trey Peters

Senior Trey Peters is not only a gifted athlete but also a very well-rounded young man. When his closest friends were asked to describe Trey in one word, the words that came to mind were determined, compassionate, king, stoic, and leader.
Athletics have been a part of his life since he was a young fella. Whether it was watching sports or playing sports. From scoring buckets to catching touchdowns, Trey has always been a key piece to any team he has been on. His God-given talents have put him in a position to be the centerpiece of every team he has been on. Whether it was leading King’s Cavalry to a dominating intramural basketball championship or starting the 2024 football season with a record-breaking performance, Trey has been the ‘The Man’.
On August 30, 2024, Trey caught five touchdowns and had 344 receiving yards. He broke the school single-game school record in both categories. Furthermore, that performance put him in the IHSA record books. The 344 receiving yards put him tied for 5th all-time in IHSA football in the single game category. The five touchdowns in a game also put him tied for 2nd all-time in IHSA football. Bulldog head football coach Jon Adkins stated, “Trey is a coach’s dream; he does everything you ask and is one of the hardest workers I’ve ever seen!”
Trey was on pace to have a standout senior football season, which was coming off of a stellar junior season in which he accumulated a team-leading 640 receiving yards and nine touchdowns for the Bulldogs. On September 13, 2024, against Sycamore, Trey caught a pass in the middle of the field, broke a couple of tackles, and had eyes on the endzone. After a jab step, Trey went down with what would be a season-ending knee injury. “Trey is the type of kid that will NOT let this injury set him back; in fact, he is going to come back even stronger and better than before, and that’s a scary sight because he’s already a human cheat code. I cannot wait to watch the great things he does at the next level,” said Adkins.
In the midst of the heartache, bitterness, and reality of the injury, football doesn’t define Trey. Adkins added, “Trey is an outstanding person, player, and leader for the Bulldog Football program. A 3-year starter that will go down as one of the best to ever come through here.” Trey values his family, friends, teammates, building relationships, and time spent outdoors.
When looking back on his high school football career, Trey indicated that he learned many life lessons through football that he will carry forward: effort, accountability, discipline, and character. “The team means a lot to me; I have tons of friends and coaches I spend a lot of time with and have a really good relationship with them,” Trey stated.
Away from the field of competition, you are mostly likely to find Trey outdoors. Whether it’s working, fishing, or hunting, Trey loves to be outdoors. Hunting is his favorite hobby. Trey said, “Hunting is definitely my favorite hobby.” He went on, “The thing I like most about hunting is the adrenaline rush whenever the animal steps out. It sounds crazy, but most people who hunt experience this.”
Trey also loves to spend time with his friends. He and his friends find themselves building things, playing paint ball, riding ATV’s, playing video games, and everything in between that late-teen boys love to do.
Trey is stoic. He doesn’t let the highs and lows in life impact his balance. Calmness in the midst of chaos. Even as he prepares for surgery and recovery of his knee, he is really looking forward to competing on the football field again and being there for his teammates for the remainder of the season. He is a leader of the football team, and great leaders are compassionate and never leave their troops. His determination to be there for his team and his determination to persevere through a long injury rehab is why Trey Peters is an exceptional human.
Trey has left his mark at MSHS and also left a legacy of leadership that he has shown to the underclassmen. We all look forward to seeing the positive impact Trey has on the world once he graduates from MSHS.
Trey Peters. A man’s man. A BULLDOG!
